1Contemporary Dual Qualified Midwife
Abstract:
Delivering high-quality healthcare across Western Australia’s vast and remote regions presents unique challenges that shape workforce models, service delivery, and patient outcomes. This presentation will explore how WA Country Health Service is responding through innovative nursing and midwifery practices, including flexible workforce models, telehealth-enabled care, outreach services, and culturally responsive approaches developed in partnership with Aboriginal communities. It will highlight the critical role of dedicated clinicians working to their full scope of practice in complex environments, supported by real-world examples of innovation in action. Looking to the future, the session will consider how workforce redesign, digital health, and strengthened partnerships will continue to improve access and outcomes in remote settings, aligning with the conference theme—Distance. Dedication. Difference. The future of remote health.
