Abstract:

Remote Area Nurses (RANs) work in the most isolated locations in Australia with people that require high quality of care, however RANs feel like they are unsupported. The BRANCHES model has been developed out of a necessity for RANs to continually develop their practice through reflection and networking, ultimately improving work environment and culture, quality of care, continual professional development and personal wellbeing.  This model was developed within a PhD project using a participatory action research method, partnering with RANs and remote health leaders across Australia to ensure the model was purpose fit and contextually appropriate for the remote setting, which is well known for being a challenging space. This presentation will introduce the finished model with each component explained.
